ACCORDI: Passenger - Let Her Go

Pubblicata il 5 novembre del 2012, questa canzone dell'inglese Passenger ha avuto un successo strepitoso in tutti i paesi europei e negli USA, dove è anche stata utilizzata per una pubblicità durante il Super Bowl. Il video di questo brano in poco più di un giorno ha raggiunto oltre 10 milioni di visualizzazioni, e la canzone ha vinto il disco di platino in dieci paesi, tra i quali l'Italia. ACCORDI: The sound of silence - Simon & Garfunkel

Questa canzone uscì nel settembre del 1965 come singolo, dopo aver raggiunto la vetta delle classifiche nel 1966 fu poi inserita nell'album omonimo, ha fatto da colonna sonora ad alcuni film tra cui Il Laureato e Watchmen. Sebbene molti credano che il brano fu scritto in occasione dell'assassinio di John F. Kennedy, in realtà Simon ha poi smentito questa teoria affermando che voleva solo scrivere una canzone sull'impossibilità di comunicare degli uomini e sui problemi interpersonali. Il primo verso "Ciao oscurità, vecchia amica mia", affermò Paul Simon, era dovuto al fatto che in quel periodo della sua vita riusciva a concentrarsi e comporre le sue canzoni stando seduto al buio nel bagno di casa sua.

La canzone fu anche riadattata in italiano in due occasioni: nel 1966 Carlo Rossi usò lo stesso motivo cambiando il testo e trasformandolo in una canzone d'amore dal titolo La tua immagine, canzone incisa da Luisa Casali; nel 1975 invece la canzone venne riproposta in italiano usando il messaggio originario di Simon & Garfunkel in un brano intitolato Il suono del silenzio e registrato da Adriano Pappalardo.

E' uno dei brani più famosi del duo statunitense, insieme a Scarbourouhg Fair e April come she will.
