Mim Re Hello darkness, my old friend, Mim I've come to talk with you again, Do Sol Because a vision soft creeping, Mim Do Sol Left it's seeds while I was sleeping, Do Sol And the vision that was planted in my brain Mim Still remains Re Mim Within the sound of silence. Mim Re In restless dreams I walked alone Mim Narrow streets of cobblestone, Mim Do Sol 'Neath the halo of a street lamp, Mim Do Sol I turned my collar to the cold and damp Do When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon Sol light Mim That split the night Re Mim And touched the sound of silence. Mim Re And in the naked light I saw Mim Ten thousand people, maybe more. Mim Do Sol People talking without speaking, Mim Do Sol People hearing without listening, Do Sol People writing songs that voices never share Mim And no one dare Re Mim Disturb the sound of silence. Mim Re Fools said i, you do not know Mim Silence like a cancer grows. Mim Do Sol Hear my words that I might teach you, Mim Do Sol Take my arms that I might reach you. Do Sol But my words like silent raindrops fell, Mim And echoed Re Mim In the wells of silence Mim Re And the people bowed and prayed Mim To the neon God they made. Mim Do Sol And the sign flashed out it's warning, Mim Do Sol In the words that it was forming. Mim Do And the sign said, the words of the prophets Do Sol Are written on the subway walls Mim And tenement halls. Re Mim And whispered in the sounds of silence.
